Documentary record of LSA building June 23 2010
La Salle's very last day. At 7:45 AM on June 23, 2010, I arrived at La Salle Academy and photographed everything I could of the building and of views of the neighborhood environs with three digital cameras, one of which was equipped with a very-wide-angle 18mm lens. This included the roof, crawl spaces, Brothers' House, elevator, cafeteria, classrooms, etc. You will be as dismayed as I was by the gutted and forsaken appearance of what you once knew as a living second home, full of life. I knocked off at 11, exhausted by the over-90-degree heat, having shot 717 stills and video clips. A few hours later, the building was turned over to the outfit which will be renting it for the next 15 years, and if they pick up their options, it will be fully 25 years before you will be able to enter it once again as a La Salle Person in La Salle Academy. By that time, I will be as dead as a roast possum, only not so tasty. An age has come to an end, an age that had endured over one hundred fifty years.
